K-pop boy band SF9 is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a new album and an ambitious promise to remain together for decades to come.

The FNC Entertainment group returned on Wednesday with its second full-length album, “TENACITY,” led by the single “Without Wings.” Speaking at a media showcase in Seoul, member Inseong said the group hopes to continue performing for another 60 years, health permitting.

“We plan to keep this going for another 60 years or so, and we’re a group with the will and the nerve to do it. As long as we stay healthy, it’s possible,” Inseong said.

SF9 debuted in October 2016 with the single album Feeling Sensation and began its 10th anniversary year in March with the special album About Love. The new 10-track album, TENACITY, marks another milestone in the group’s decade-long career.

The group currently consists of Youngbin, Inseong, Jaeyoon, Dawon, Zuho, Yoo Tae-yang, Hwiyoung and Chani, although Yoo Tae-yang and Zuho are currently sitting out promotional activities while completing their military service.

Leader Youngbin expressed gratitude to the group’s fans, known as FANTASY, for supporting SF9 throughout its journey.

“I’m grateful to FANTASY for being the support that let us keep going for 10 years,” he said.

According to the members, TENACITY reflects on SF9’s past decade while looking ahead to its future. The album title combines the idea of persistence with a reference to the group’s 10 years in the music industry.

The lead single, “Without Wings,” combines SF9’s powerful vocals with Afrobeats-inspired production to create a relaxed, contemporary sound. Hwiyoung, who contributed to the song’s lyrics, said he drew from his personal experiences while writing a message of hope.

Reflecting on the group’s career, Dawon highlighted SF9’s first music-show victory with “Good Guy” on Mnet’s M Countdown in 2020 as one of his most memorable moments.

Youngbin, meanwhile, said the biggest change over the years has been the members’ approach to teamwork. He recalled that disagreements were common during their early years as each member had strong ideas about the music they wanted to make, but said they have gradually learned to become more flexible for the benefit of the group.

SF9 will continue its anniversary celebrations with two concerts on October 10 and 11 at KBS Arena in Seoul. The performances are expected to feature songs and special stages spanning the group’s entire 10-year career.

“We’re planning to put everything from 10 years into it,” Chani said. “You’ll see the passion of a more mature version of us.”
