Former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has cast fresh doubt over his long-awaited showdown with fellow British heavyweight Anthony Joshua, claiming the proposed fight may no longer happen because of an unresolved dispute over the venue.

Fury and Joshua had been expected to meet in November in what would be one of the biggest all-British heavyweight fights in boxing history. However, negotiations have reportedly hit another obstacle, with the two camps yet to agree on where the bout should take place.

Joshua and his promoter, Eddie Hearn, are pushing for the fight to be staged in the United Kingdom, citing an earlier understanding between the parties. However, Saudi organisers and other stakeholders are reportedly considering Madison Square Garden in New York as an alternative venue.

Fury addressed the situation in a video posted on Instagram on Friday, August 21, blaming Joshua and Hearn for the latest setback.

“Doesn’t look like they’re going to sign the fight and it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen, all because Eddie Hearn and Anthony Joshua want more money,” Fury said.

The former WBC heavyweight champion also launched a verbal attack on his long-time rival and his promoter, describing them as “disgusting” and “money-thirsty.”

Fury further questioned Joshua’s willingness to face him, warning that he could move on to another opponent if an agreement was not reached.

“I’ll move on and fight somebody else, but just know you never had the guts to fight Tyson Fury, ever,” he added.

Hearn Insists Negotiations Are Ongoing

Hearn has previously argued that staging the fight in the United States could have significant tax implications for Joshua, potentially reducing the amount the former two-time world heavyweight champion would take home compared with a fight staged in Britain.

Despite Fury’s latest comments, negotiations have not officially collapsed.

Hearn has maintained that discussions remain active and that Joshua wants the fight. The bout is also expected to be broadcast by Netflix, although the final venue and other contractual details have yet to be confirmed.
