LAGOS, NIGERIA — Veteran Yoruba Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, is reportedly battling stage-four cancer and is currently in critical condition, according to emotional appeals made by his daughters.

Ogogo’s daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, separately took to Instagram on Monday to seek urgent medical assistance for their father, saying hospitals had reportedly declined to continue his treatment.

Lima, who became emotional during her video appeal, asked Nigerians and well-wishers to help the family identify a hospital or medical professional willing to treat the veteran actor. She emphasised that the family was not soliciting financial donations, but was seeking medical intervention that could give their father another chance.

She said the family only became aware of the severity of Ogogo’s condition about three weeks ago, noting that his physical appearance had not initially suggested how serious the illness was.

“He has cancer and it’s really, really bad. And the hospitals are refusing to treat him. At least, please, give this man a chance. Nobody wants to do anything,” Lima said.

She added that the family was willing to explore available treatment options and appealed to anyone with connections to medical professionals or hospitals capable of treating cancer patients to come forward.

“If you know somebody that knows somebody that will be willing to treat him, anything, we’re willing to try anything. We’re not here to ask for money. Nobody’s here to ask for money,” she said.

Lima also acknowledged the support of a relative who had assisted the family, but said she was desperate to find further medical help for her father.

“Please, I can’t watch my daddy die. I can’t. I can’t. Please. Please, I’m begging you,” she pleaded.

In a separate Instagram video, Kira also appealed for urgent medical assistance, saying her father had been diagnosed with stage-four cancer and that the hospital treating him had reportedly indicated that it could no longer continue chemotherapy.

Kira appealed to individuals, hospitals and medical professionals capable of providing cancer treatment to contact the family, stressing again that they were seeking treatment rather than financial assistance.

“What I’m here for is that if you can treat my daddy, if you can start chemo for him, whether it’s medical or herbs, please, I’m begging you guys, any help, anything, anybody that you know that can treat cancer, please, please, I’m begging you,” she said.

She also expressed appreciation to Senator Yayi, whom she said had been supporting the family and helping to foot her father’s medical bills.

The emotional appeals have sparked concern among fans and colleagues of the veteran actor, with the family urging anyone who can provide legitimate and appropriate medical assistance to come forward urgently.
