A group, The Southwest Commodities Farmers Organisation has appointed, the Chief Executive Officer, Umera Group, Olamide Alao-Akala, as the south-West coordinator of the group.

The Umera boss was appointed recently during the official launch of the organisation at Daylan Events Centre in Ibadan.

Speaking during event, the chairman of the group, Prince David Ogundele, stated that Alao-Akala was appointed for his dedication towards the development of the agricultural sector.

He further added that the Umera boss appointment was meant to give more encouragement to youths participation in agriculture.

He said: “You are appointed today for your great dedication towards the development of agriculture in Oyo state, while we also appointed you in a bid to create a legacy that brings more youths to agriculture, so that agriculture won’t go into extinction.

Alao-Akala’s appointment was announced shortly after her presentation as the special guest of the event which also witnessed the launch of onsite farmers market, training and workshop on effective farming practices and a farmers Empowerment Scheme.

In her speech, Alao-Akala appreciated the group for the honour, while she pledged to contribute more towards the development of agriculture in Oyo State and southwest as a whole.

While she announced the donation of 50 acres of land to the Youths of Southwest Commodity Farmers Association, Oyo State Chapter.

According to her, the gesture is meant to support and encourage farmers and as well tackle food insecurity in the state.

I hereby support the Youths of Southwest Commodities Farmers Association with 50 acres of land as a way of supporting young farmers in the state, she said.
