Otunba Emmanuel Fayose, a PDP chieftain and candidate for governor, has declared his intention to win the party ticket and, eventually, the election in the southwestern state next year. His “resolve to contest is inspired by his ambition to steer Ekiti State back on the path of progress and development,” according to a statement released to reporters by his media office.

“If I win, I would lead an inclusive government that will guide Ekiti in the correct way. I am running to overthrow the Oyebanji-led government.”
The PDP governorship candidate clarified that after a recent meeting between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Mr. Ayodele Fayose, a former state governor, in Lagos, he felt compelled to reiterate his involvement in the race in order to allay any skepticism about his aspirations.

The former governor, who happens to be Otunba Fayose’s older brother, told President Tinubu during the widely reported meeting that he would be helping the incumbent governor, who is running on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), obtain a new mandate.

The candidate responded to the news by stating that the Lagos meeting would not have any bearing on his candidacy. “want everyone else, I read about the meeting in the headlines, and I would want to clarify that the meeting is not related to my aspirations,” he stated. “As my older brother, the former governor is merely practicing his democratic right to freedom of choice, therefore the meeting will not affect my ambition.” “Being distinct entities with different objectives, his choice and preferences will not and cannot in any way negatively effect my bid.”

In response, the candidate stated that the Lagos meeting would not have any impact on his candidacy. “I want to clarify that the meeting has nothing to do with my desire, and like everyone else, I heard about it in the newspapers,” he stated. “The former governor is only practicing his democratic right to freedom of choice as my older brother, therefore the meeting will not affect my ambition.” Considering that we are two distinct organizations with different objectives, his preferences and choice will not and cannot have a negative impact on my proposal.

Otunba Fayose urged his supporters in the state to remain steadfast and resolute in their quest for positive change in Ekiti.
