Osun State Governor and Accord Party governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke, has thanked God and the people of the state following his declaration as winner of the August 15, 2026 governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Adeleke described the victory as a triumph for democracy and a reward from Osun voters for the achievements of his administration in infrastructure, healthcare, security and other sectors.

Speaking after the declaration, Adeleke expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, would accept the outcome and congratulate him. “It’s no victor, no vanquished. I am expecting the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, to call me and congratulate me,” the governor said. He also attributed his victory to his faith in God, declaring, “I have a God who never fails.”

INEC declared Adeleke the winner after he secured 511,067 votes, defeating Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes, to win by a margin of 66,252 votes. Adeleke won in 19 of Osun State’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji won 11. The governor also used the occasion to appreciate President Bola Tinubu for what he described as a successful election, while calling for unity following the conclusion of the poll.
