Nathaniel Bassey, a pastor and Christian music minister, has said why he was not asked to play at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20. Online and traditional media outlets reported that Bassey would be performing at Trump’s inauguration alongside other international Christian musicians.

But the cleric from Akwa Ibom explained that he was not asked to play during Trump’s inauguration. “The Presidential Prayer Breakfast is a non-official, non-governmental gathering,” he clarified.

According to him, it has always taken place once every four years, right before the inauguration of the country’s next president.

The performer of “Onise Iyanu” stated that although the Presidential Prayer Breakfast is hosted for the incoming US presidents, it is unrelated to them.
