New Leadership for UNIMED
In a significant leadership change, Governor Aiyedatiwa has appointed Prof. Ebuoluwa Aderonke Adejuyigbe as the new Vice Chancellor of UNIMED. She replaces Prof. Adesegun Fatusi, whose tenure has concluded.
Prof. Adejuyigbe, a renowned Professor of Paediatrics, hails from Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo State. She currently serves as the Executive Director of the Central Office of Research at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, and is also a Consultant Paediatrician at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital.
Her assumption of office as Vice Chancellor is expected to follow the submission of the Visitation Panel’s report, which will provide recommendations on the financial and academic operations of the institution.
Interim Leadership in Place
While awaiting Prof. Adejuyigbe’s official resumption, Prof. Adolphus Odogun Loto, the current Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Administration and Clinical Services, has been directed to serve as Acting Vice-Chancellor.
This transition period is seen as a crucial step in maintaining stability within UNIMED’s administration while the newly appointed Vice Chancellor prepares to assume office.
Ensuring Accountability in Higher Education
The establishment of the Visitation Panel reflects Governor Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to ensuring accountability, financial prudence, and academic excellence at UNIMED. The outcome of the panel’s review is expected to shape future policies aimed at strengthening the university’s governance and operational efficiency.
