Osun State is currently experiencing a significant political power struggle between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressive Congress (APC).

This intense rivalry is centered around the control of various local government areas within the state.

This is a sequel to an Appeal court judgement delivered on the sacked APC chairmen in the 2022 local government election conducted by the former governor Gboyega Oyetola.

Some APC members on Monday went to the local secretariats in the state to takeover while PDP members also mount surveillance at the secretariats to prevent APC from taking over which resulted to violence and death of few individuals.

Meanwhile, the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) has unveiled voting materials for the forthcoming Local Government election, while declaring its readiness for the 2025 Local Government Election.

The OSSIEC Chairman, Barrister Hashim Abioye unveiled ballot paper specimens to political leaders, Media men and other stakeholders for Saturday 22nd February, 2025.
