A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Haruna Gololo, has predicted that President Bola Tinubu could lose the 2027 presidential election and finish as far down as third or fourth place.

Gololo, in an interview with The Whistler, argued that the Tinubu administration had not done enough during its first term to secure a second-term mandate. He particularly criticised the President’s appointments, alleging that they have favoured people from the South-West while other parts of the country have been neglected.

The ADC chieftain also accused the administration of awarding contracts that, according to him, have not translated into visible projects, while claiming that contractors and military personnel were facing difficulties over unpaid obligations. He further alleged that several campaign promises had not been fulfilled, insisting that Nigerians would use the 2027 election to determine whether the President deserved another term.

Gololo claimed that political mobilisation against Tinubu is already gaining momentum in the North, although he declined to disclose details of the strategy being adopted.

“It can never work in favour of the President because we vote. The people who are voting know where they are going to vote,” he said.

He cited the 2023 presidential election in Lagos, where the Labour Party candidate Peter Obi won the state despite Tinubu’s strong political base there, as an indication that voters could defy established political structures.

Gololo added: “Personally, I think the President may come third or fourth. Mobilisation is going on seriously, and the campaign is going on seriously. But we don’t reveal our strategy.”

He maintained that the eventual outcome would be determined by voters at the ballot box in 2027.
