Flight operations at Lagos airport were disrupted on Tuesday after members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) staged an early morning protest that prevented passengers from boarding an Air Peace flight. The demonstration, which reportedly began around 5:00 a.m., saw the Zulu Terminal gate locked, forcing the airline’s scheduled 6:30 a.m. departure to be delayed and leaving travellers stranded.

The disruption caused frustration among passengers, many of whom said the delay affected their travel plans and business engagements. Some travellers complained they had arrived at the airport well ahead of departure but received no clear information on when flight operations would resume. An Air Peace staff member confirmed the disruption but declined to disclose the reason behind the labour action.

According to an aviation operator familiar with the dispute, the protest was linked to efforts by organised labour to secure the right of Air Peace employees to join a union. The action was reportedly aimed at compelling the airline to recognise workers’ freedom of association. As of the time of the incident, movement around the terminal remained affected while passengers awaited updates on the resumption of normal flight operations.
