OSOGBO, Nigeria — President Bola Tinubu has assured residents of Osun State of adequate security before, during and after Saturday’s governorship election, urging eligible voters to come out and exercise their democratic rights without fear or intimidation.

Speaking through Senate President Godswill Akpabio at the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship campaign rally in Osogbo on Thursday, Tinubu said security agencies had made comprehensive arrangements to guarantee a peaceful and credible electoral process across the state. He encouraged voters to freely elect their preferred candidate, while urging them to “choose wisely” and arguing that Osun would benefit from aligning with the Federal Government.

Akpabio, who represented the President, expressed confidence in the APC’s chances of victory, citing the large turnout at the rally and the presence of prominent party leaders, including former Osun Governor Bisi Akande, former APC National Secretary Iyiola Omisore and Senator Francis Fadahunsi. He also claimed that opposition figures, including former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola and some Accord Party leaders, had thrown their support behind APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO).

The Senate President further criticised the condition of the Ibadan-Osun road, saying the state deserved better infrastructure. He urged Oyebamiji to prioritise road development and other key projects if elected, stressing that Osun residents should enjoy improved infrastructure and the full dividends of democracy from the first day of a new administration.
