Fubara gave the assurance on Tuesday while inaugurating the 12.1-kilometre Egwi-Afara-Mba Road in Etche Local Government Area of the state. He said the completed road would improve movement, stimulate commercial activities and contribute to reducing insecurity in the area.

The governor also expressed confidence that projects his administration could not complete before leaving office would be properly handled by the succeeding administration. He explained that governance was primarily about providing services, protecting lives and property, and addressing the needs of the people within available resources.
“What is governance all about? Governance is providing services, protection of lives and property. Governance is, you can’t solve every problem, but you must try to meet the needs of the people,” Fubara said.
He added that his decision not to seek re-election was motivated by his desire to promote peace and development in Rivers State.
Fubara promised to consider the extension of the newly completed road to Ndashi community, saying his administration would respond to the request for the construction of the road.
“On the request about the road leading to Ndashi, we will look at it and assure you that, for the sake of the Onye Ishi Etche, we will do something about it,” he said.
The governor also pledged to complete the General Hospital in Etche, stressing that healthcare would remain a priority despite the limited time left for his administration.
“We have a very limited time, and because of that I can’t stand here and promise you everything. But one aspect we will not play with presently, no matter how tight it is for us, is the issue of healthcare,” Fubara stated.
According to him, his administration had commenced the rehabilitation and reconstruction of zonal hospitals across Rivers State, with projects in Bori, Omoku and Degema either completed or approaching completion.
He acknowledged that the Etche hospital project had not received as much attention as the others but assured residents that efforts would be made to deliver a standard medical facility serving both Etche and neighbouring Omuma communities.
“The only one that we have not done much is that of Etche. But let me promise you that by the special grace of God, before we exit, there will be a standard hospital to cater for the people of Etche and Omuma,” he said.
Fubara described the completion of the Egwi-Afara-Mba Road as particularly significant because the project was initiated in 2024, during a challenging period for his administration.
He said despite the political and administrative difficulties confronting his government at the time, work on the road continued until its completion.
“It was a long and difficult project, but I said even while we are going through these challenges, we still have to be working because at the end of the day, what posterity records is not the reason for your failures but the little things that you achieved,” the governor said.
The governor’s remarks underscore his administration’s emphasis on completing infrastructure and healthcare projects as it approaches the end of its tenure, with Fubara maintaining that the lasting measure of governance should be the tangible impact of projects delivered to the people.
