The divisive head of the British Conservative Party, Kemi Badenoch, has spoken out about her religious beliefs.

In an interview with the US media outlet The Free Press that has gone viral, Badenoch stated that she no longer believes in God.
The lawmaker emphasized that she identifies as agnostic and highlighted that her lack of belief in God does not make her an atheist.
The most crucial element, in her opinion, is what people do with their beliefs—or lack thereof.

“Whether or not people believe in God is irrelevant, in my opinion. What individuals do with the belief—or lack thereof—is what counts, she added.

Badenoch’s last name changed after she married a Scottish banker. She was born Olukemi Adegoke to Nigerian Yoruba parents in the UK.
She eventually left for the UK when she was sixteen after returning to Nigeria, where she was raised.

“I no longer believe in God. However, I am an agnostic rather than an atheist. I used to have a strong belief in God, but these days I consider myself to be a cultural Christian.
