The President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has alleged that former Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, twice demolished his cement factory while it was under construction.

Dangote made this revelation during a meeting with the incumbent governor, Dapo Abiodun, on Monday, March 18, 2025. The discussion, according to a statement from the Ogun State Government, centered on expanding investment opportunities in manufacturing, oil and gas, and energy within the state.

Dangote’s Allegations Against Amosun

A video circulating on social media captured Dangote recounting his unpleasant experience with the Amosun administration. He expressed his frustration over the repeated demolitions of his cement factory in Itori, Ogun State.

“I deem it fit to have it on record that the factory we are visiting now in Itori, it’s because of His Excellency, Governor Dapo Abiodun, that we came back. That factory was demolished twice,” Dangote said.

He further explained how his company attempted to rebuild the factory, only for it to be demolished again, including the fencing, leading to their temporary exit from the state.

“We started building, then Amosun demolished it. The second time, we started again, he demolished not only the factory but also the fencing, so we left. But right now, we’re coming back because of His Excellency, my brother, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

“When we go there, you’ll be very surprised,” Dangote added.

Dangote Group’s Return to Ogun State

Despite past setbacks, Dangote confirmed that his company is reinvesting in Ogun State, citing the supportive business environment under Governor Abiodun’s administration.

The meeting between Dangote and Abiodun signals a renewed partnership aimed at strengthening industrial growth and economic development in Ogun State.

While former Governor Ibikunle Amosun has yet to respond to the allegations, the revelation has sparked discussions on the challenges investors face and the importance of government policies in fostering business growth.
