A 32-year-old vice president of Bank of America, Erin Piacenti, has been killed in a stabbing attack at Times Square in New York City, United States.

Piacenti, who worked in the bank’s business selection and conflicts unit, was attacked on Monday in an incident that also left another person injured. Her LinkedIn profile identified her as a vice president at Bank of America.

Bank of America confirmed her death in a statement issued on Tuesday, expressing shock and sadness over the loss of its employee. The financial institution described Piacenti as a valued colleague and extended its condolences to her family and loved ones.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said a woman armed with several knives attacked two people at Times Square. According to the mayor, responding police officers first used a Taser before opening fire on the suspect. The NYPD later confirmed that Piacenti sustained multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said preliminary findings suggested that the attack appeared to be random and unprovoked. Police identified the suspect as 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros, who was shot and killed by officers at the scene as they responded to the incident.

The NYPD said its Force Investigation Division was continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack. Piacenti’s death occurred near Bank of America’s Manhattan operations, with the bank’s Manhattan office located at One Bryant Park, close to Times Square.
