Tinubu Swears In Two New Ministers, Convenes First FEC Meeting After Months of Break
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday administered the oath of office to two new ministers — Dr Bernard Doro and Dr Kingsley Udeh — officially inducting them into the Federal Executive Council (FEC) during a brief but symbolic ceremony at the State House, Abuja.
The swearing-in, which marked the President’s first FEC gathering since July, was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, and other top government officials.
The two newly sworn-in ministers are expected to fill key positions that became vacant following recent cabinet adjustments and resignations within the administration. Both men, widely regarded as technocrats with strong academic and administrative backgrounds, pledged allegiance to the Constitution and vowed to serve the country with loyalty and dedication.
During the ceremony, President Tinubu urged the new ministers to see their appointments as a call to national service, emphasizing discipline, accountability, and performance. “This administration was elected to deliver results, not excuses,” the President stated. “Every member of this council must work tirelessly to ensure Nigerians feel the positive impact of governance in their daily lives. The time for talk is over; the time for results is now.”
He noted that Nigerians are eager for improved living conditions, security, economic stability, and opportunities for the youth, stressing that his government is fully committed to reforms that will reposition the nation for growth. “Our duty is to renew hope and rebuild trust between government and the people. We must be transparent and focused on outcomes,” Tinubu added.
The swearing-in ceremony immediately preceded the resumption of the Federal Executive Council meeting, which was held for the first time since July, marking a major return to collective policy deliberations after months of internal restructuring within the administration.
At the meeting, President Tinubu reportedly outlined his government’s priorities for the months ahead, with a focus on economic recovery, energy reforms, job creation, food security, and national security. Sources at the Villa disclosed that the President directed ministers to intensify implementation of key projects and policies already approved by the council, warning that performance monitoring will be stricter in the coming quarter.
Tinubu was also said to have reminded the ministers of the need for unity and coordination among ministries, departments, and agencies, adding that overlapping responsibilities and bureaucratic bottlenecks must not delay service delivery. “We are all part of one government, one vision, and one mission — to make Nigeria work for every citizen,” he told the council.
Dr Bernard Doro, one of the newly sworn-in ministers, is known for his work in economic development and governance reforms, while Dr Kingsley Udeh is a policy expert and education strategist reputed for his contribution to national planning and academic research. Both are expected to bring technical expertise and renewed energy to the Tinubu administration’s reform agenda.
