Mudashiru Obasa, the ousted Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has proclaimed himself to be a sincere follower of President Bola Tinubu.
Obasa claims to have evidence to support his claims and to have been following Tinubu since he graduated from high school.
Speaking about the leadership issue roiling the Lagos State House of Assembly in an interview with Channels Television on Thursday, Obasa said that those who haven’t known him as a staunch supporter of President Tinubu haven’t been with them from the start.
When asked if he has Tinubu’s support in the crisis, he responded with this statement.
Obasa’s Impeachment Illegal, FG Facilitated His Comeback – Report
“I have been following this man since I recently graduated from secondary school,” Obasa stated. I can demonstrate this with pictures. I ran for delegate during SDP.
I’ve been one of his disciples ever since, and I won’t change tomorrow. I’ve been loyalist all my life. They have not been a part of us since the beginning if they are only now realizing that.
Ambition for Governorship
Regarding his alleged desire to become governor, Obasa stated that he is highly qualified for the role even if he is not interested in winning Lagos’ top political seat.
He further denied that he and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had ever misunderstood one another.
He claims that he has been getting along well with the governor and that Sanwo-Olu is a brother and leader to him.
“Having ambition is not a sin. The governor is my leader and brother. And there is no reason for me to disrespect him. If I have taken a step or an action that seems disrespecting him that might have happened unconsciously.
“Number one, the governor is in our state. We have to respect him and he is my brother. So, as far as I am concerned, there is nothing like that.
“Governorship ambition is not in my consideration. But that doesn’t mean I am not qualified,” he added.
