Lawyer Wale Odusola has been charged by the Ondo police command for allegedly exposing the state’s governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to public mockery.
Odusola was charged with three counts by police on Tuesday at a magistrate court in the state capital of Akure.
The attorney entered a not guilty plea to the allegations.
According to the charging sheet, authorities claimed that the attorney had abused Aiyedatiwa in a video that was uploaded to his Facebook page, committing “emotional, verbal, and psychological” abuse.
Odusola allegedly accused Aiyedatiwa of “failing to be parochial and neglecting his constituency,” according to the police.
The lawyer implied that Aiyedatiwa “engaged in extra-marital affairs with finance commissioner, Mrs. Wunmi Isaac,” the police claimed.
The magistrate granted the defendant bail on self-recognition despite the police’s request to send him to the Olokuta prison for the court hearings.
OVERVIEW.
Odusola, who shares the same LGA as Aiyedatiwa (Ilaje), criticized the governor on February 11 for allegedly marginalizing the local council.
The attorney claimed that in the 2025 budget, the state government set aside N3 billion for capital projects in Owo LGA, while just one project totaling N100 million was given to Ilaje LGA.
As the first governor from Ilaje LGA, Aiyedatiwa has a responsibility to make sure the region sees significant growth, according to Odusola.
He also criticized the governor for the fiscal allocation in a number of films he filmed in the Ilaje dialect.
The Ondo police command sent Odusola a letter on February 12 requesting that he come to a station in Akure regarding a “case of conduct likely to cause breach of peace.”
Following the questioning, the attorney was asked to return on Tuesday but was released on Monday.
